The first round of Brexit negotiations took place on 19 June 2017, launched by Michel Barnier, the EU Chief Negotiator, and David Davis, Secretary of State for Exiting the EU. During the first round, among other things, the negotiators reached agreement on dates, organisation and priorities for the negotiations, and confirmed that the UK will leave the Customs Union and the Single Market.

In addition, in the margins of the European Council (Article 50) meeting on 22 June 2017, EU 27 leaders endorsed the procedure for deciding on the relocation of the two EU agencies currently located in the UK: the European Medicines Agency and the European Banking Authority.
