Employment Tribunal: tribunal fees deemed illegal!
In the case of R (on the application of UNISON) v. Lord Chancellor, the UK Supreme Court ruled yesterday that employment tribunal fees, introduced by the Government in July 2013 under a fees order, are unlawful, after an appeal was made to the Court by the trade union Unison. The Supreme Court said that the current regime of employment tribunal (ET) fees and employment appeal tribunal (EAT) fees prevents access to justice and therefore is unlawful under both domestic and EU
The European Union (Withdrawal) Bill is ready !
The day after triggering Brexit, the government published details of its "Great Repeal Bill". Described by Theresa May as an "essential step" on the way to leaving the EU, it aims to ensure European law will no longer apply in the UK. Yesterday it was being introduced to Parliament, with the formal title of the European Union (Withdrawal) Bill. As its informal name suggests, the repeal bill will repeal the 1972 European Communities Act, which took Britain into the EU and mean
